How to make pickles

Annika: This is how you make pickles: You put this here, then you stir in milk and cream, and cream, and some  milk, and some more milk and cream and you stir-stir and then you have pickles.

Adora

Me: Did you like playing with Adora yesterday?
Annika: Yes. But I didn't like Adora's man!  (her dad)

Birdwatching

Annika and I were on a birdwatching walk and I pointed out a mockingbird to her. Forgetting that at 2 she has no idea what Texas or a state is, I said, "Did you know that the mockingbird is the state bird of Texas? And our Texas state flower is the bluebonnet."
Annika was confused and said, "Um, are we talking about Jesus?"  Then in a quiet, unsure voice she said, "Good job, Jesus..."

Outside and loving it.

Dad: Are you having fun outside?
Annika: The trees are bright, the wind is shiny, I love you daddy, we can play all day!

Birds

Annika: The birds sing to Jesus.

A song by Annika

I could hear her singing in her crib yesterday and it was so cute:

"I love the colors, and I love the rainbow
and I love to slide, to slide on the rainbow
I love to slide on the rainbow"

(except it sounds like "I wuv to swide on the wainbow")
