An Ode to Her Daddy

Annika spotted a hole in her car seat cover. "What's this hole, Mommy?" I told her that I didn't know. "Daddy probably ruined it," she said with certainty.

When she is happy with her dad she calls him her 'buddy.' Once we were in the store and he wandered off and she asked, "Where's my buddy?"                           ....BUT when she gets mad at him:
"You're not my buddy!"

"Mommy, you're 20, and Daddy's 16."

"I love you Daddy. And I want you to be happy."

Annika was playing with Daddy with the doctor kit. When she was all done getting her 'shot' she hugged his foot and said, "You're my sweet doctor!"

Me: "What's Daddy scared of?"
Annika: "Daddy's not scared of anything!"

Adam: "I'm big"
Annika: "I'm small! ...I wish I was big"
Adam: "Why?"
Annika: "Because you're big and I love you."

Random Silliness

Annika always asks me to sing her "Hilent Snight," one of her favorite songs. (Silent Night)

"Goodbye stars, goodbye moon- I'll see you in the morning!"

After throwing grapes: "I'm playing Grapesball!"

"Mommy, will you turn on the dark?"

Me: "Wow, you're really going tee-tee!"
Annikia: "Yes, very tee-tee!"

She looked at me and said, "I call you Martin!"

Lollypop

We were pretending and Annika said: "Here is a green lollypop with some milk on it. And some strawberries on it and some cream and sugar on it, and that will make it taste good. And I will put some pie on it, and milk, and you taste it with the spoon. Try it... WAIT MOMMY! You have to put some sugar on it! Before you try it. Here, try it, Mommy: sugar, cream, milk and sugar. And here is some orange."
Me: "Like the fruit?"
Annika: "Like the color of the rainbow. Like the flavor."
Me: "The flavor of what?"
Annika: "Of orange."
Me: "But the flavor of what?"
Annika: "Of orange"
Me: "What tastes like orange?"
Annika: "Cotton candy. I think you have a stomach ache."

Making Spaghetti

Annika approaches: "Would you like some spaghetti?"
"Sure," I say.
"Here you go, my dear. Would you like some dirt?"
"No thank you," I say.
Annika is fast and loose with the compliments: "Wow, Mommy, I like your good manners!"
"Thanks."
She continues, "Now you are tired of spaghetti. You want sushi. Here are your chopsticks. I better eat    yourfood. I need a spoon. Is this salmon? I need to eat salmon. Can I try your masabi? (wasabi)...
I'm full. I will build a sandwich for myself...   ...How about some pretend pickles? That will cheer you up!"
